First off, I’ll just say that I’ve been wearing barefoot shoes for about 5 years now after listening to the Primal Blueprint audiobook and learning about barefoot shoes.
I have a pair of hemp Vibram toe shoes for very warm days.
I also have a pair of Whitin Knit shoes for a more normal looking shoe and I have to say those have become my benchmark for comfort for normal looking barefoot shoes. They’re ridiculously comfortable and I’ve been wearing those for the past 3 years. I’m currently on my second pair.
However, I wanted to see what else was out there and I also wanted a pair of gray shoes with a gum sole because I wear brown pants/shorts a lot with a gray or light colored shirt.
So, I purchased these and a pair of Airhas in the same color to compare them. Spoiler, these won.
I’ve been wearing these for the past couple days and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. Out of the box, these were definitely more comfortable than the Airhas. Not quite as comfortable as my Whitin Knits, but pretty comfortable. I also love the pale/light gray color with the gum sole. Great combo that goes well with a light colored shirt.
These are definitely higher quality than the Airhas I tried. Especially the textured sole, which I really like and it’s a standout feature of these shoes. I also appreciate that the tongue on these has a bit of thickness to it. The Airhas were more firm on the inside where the laces are and it’s a big reason I returned them.
These have a pretty simple design to them and I appreciate that. They look like very normal shoes.
The quality is also there. As mentioned before, the gum sole definitely looks like good quality and the breathable fabric looks and feels good. The TPU toe shell also appears to be good quality. The sticker on the box had a price of $89, and while I definitely wouldn’t pay that much, for $40, these look like a $60-70 pair of shoes, for sure.
These will definitely stay in my shoes rotation when I’m wearing light colored clothes. They pair very well! If you’re deciding between these or the Airhas, I’d definitely recommend these!
