CHIP-RECOGNITION CARTRIDGE SYSTEM (NEW ON M9): Each genuine Dr. Pen cartridge carries a chip the device reads automatically. A green icon confirms an authorized cartridge is locked in correctly; a red icon reminds you one still needs to be installed. The M8S had no way to verify this — an upgrade for confidence and consistency.
NEARLY 2X THE BATTERY + SMART AUTO-STOP BASE: 700mAh vs. the M8S’s 380mAh, so the M9 runs much longer per charge, with Type-C charging and clear on-screen power icons. The snap-on smart base adds a convenience the M8S never had: set the pen down and it stops automatically; pick it back up and it resumes exactly where you left off — same speed, same setting, no re-adjusting.
