A few weeks ago, I spent 2 solid hours researching a dozen different wobble/balance boards to use while standing at my work desk. Ultimately, I decided upon this particular one and I could not be happier! The primary reason I purchased this was to provide my right ankle with continuous movement throughout the workday, as I have a chronic condition called Tendinosis.
The board is super lightweight to move around, and curved (rounded) bottom of the board provides the right amount of movement for use while working. I've read that some boards are too wobbly, while others do not provide enough. This one is perfect!
I use this to rock from side to side and to rock front to back. When using to rock front to back, it provides an awesome calf stretch and overall calf workout. When using from side to side, I can spread my feet really far apart if I choose because the platform is so long. Sometimes I will balance on one foot or do a walking motion on it to alleviate pressure on the bottoms of my feet. Another great feature are the grips at each corner. These prevent the board from sliding around on the floor when tilting from side to side.
I always use this with my socks only. I found that if I use it with my tennis shoes, it is uncomfortable for me (too hard). The cushion on top is not super cushy, but if I keep moving around on it, I can stand for 4-5 hours straight. It would be nice if the board had thicker cushion on it, but it is adequate as it is. And, the grip pattern on the board keeps my feet right in place.
If you are looking to add some movement to your workday while standing at a desk, this is a fantastic board to try.
